OUR STORY

A Vision to Share the Teachings of Yoga

8 Limbs Yoga School was founded by Yogi Ankit Ji in 2018 with a simple intention: to share the value of yoga and meditation with people living in an increasingly busy and stressful world.

For Ankit Ji, yoga represents more than a physical practice. It offers a way to bring greater awareness to the body, breath and mind. The school grew from the idea that these teachings should be shared through dedicated practice, learning and guidance.

Based in Upper Tapovan, Rishikesh, the school brings students together to study yogic practices, understand the philosophy behind them and develop the knowledge needed to guide others. Its teacher-training courses bring practical instruction and traditional teachings into the classroom.

The aim is for students to leave with more than a certificate. We want them to build a consistent personal practice, develop a thoughtful understanding of yoga and carry what they learn into their everyday lives and future teaching.

OUR APPROACH TO YOGA EDUCATION

Learning the Practice. Understanding the Principles. Teaching with Care.

At 8 Limbs Yoga School, learning combines guided physical practice, theoretical study and opportunities to apply what is taught. Students study yoga techniques, understand their principles and practise communicating them to others.

01

Asana, Alignment & Movement

Students practise Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Flow and Iyengar-based alignment techniques. Classes address posture, movement, the use of props and adjustments that help students understand how asanas are performed.

PRACTICAL ASANA TRAINING
02

Breath, Meditation & Philosophy

Pranayama, bandhas, mudras, Shatkarma, Yoga Nidra, mantra practice and meditation form part of the school's teaching subjects. Yoga philosophy and psychology help students study the ideas that inform these practices.

BREATH & YOGIC STUDIES
03

Anatomy & Safe Practice

Yoga anatomy, physiology and yoga therapy help students study the body in relation to asana and movement. Training also covers alignment, props and adjustments, supporting a more informed approach to practising and teaching yoga.

ANATOMY & APPLICATION
04

Teaching Methodology & Practice

Students practise teaching fellow students, receive feedback from instructors and work on verbal cues, alignment instructions and hands-on adjustments. Teaching practice builds towards a final teaching assessment as part of course completion.

SUPERVISED TEACHING
THEORY MEETS PRACTICE

Understanding a Technique Is Only Part of Learning It

Classroom study gives context to the techniques students practise. Guided sessions put that knowledge into use, while teaching exercises allow students to explain movements, offer instructions and receive feedback.

This connection between study, personal practice and teaching preparation runs through the school's yoga teacher training.

200-HOUR TRAINING
This was a great, affordable course to do my 200hr yoga teacher training. Ankit is very helpful in trying to get you whatever you needed. The school being set in the mountains is a perfect calm away from the city and we were fed extremely well. We even celebrated someone's birthday with delicious cakes. The accommodation was clean and well equipped with good WiFi and availability to do your laundry. The teachers were informative and I would highly recommend this school.

500-HOUR TRAINING
If you're looking for a place with people who will treat you like family, the best cooks who will not only prepare the most delicious parathas but will also dance for you on your birthday, a receptionist with the most genuine smile, teachers who will motivate you and push you to what you think are your limits while at the same time respecting your body and its uniqueness, and philosophy classes that will make the whole class think, question, discuss, and understand that even if our opinions are different, deep down we are the same, then this is the place. Please don’t look for outer beauty—this yoga school will offer you much more than that.
